Scottish consumers receive significantly more nuisance calls from companies selling energy-efficiency products than those in other parts of the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the most frequently reported misleading energy marketing scams relate to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>insulation<\/li>\n<li>boilers<\/li>\n<li>solar panels<\/li>\n<li>heating systems<\/li>\n<li>double glazing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How do I avoid energy marketing scams?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoid cold callers or adverts on social media.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t fill out any online forms or questionnaires from adverts about energy efficiency measures.<\/li>\n<li>Refuse to take part in phone surveys from cold callers.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Research \u2013 have an impartial assessment carried out before agreeing to have any work done.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Get at least three quotes from trusted companies before having any work done in or around your property.<\/li>\n<li>Check that quality financial protection is offered in case anything goes wrong.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Report any concerns about a purchase that you or a relative has made to Advice Direct Scotland on 0808 164 6000.
